Murren
Perched high on the edge of the Lauerbrunnen valley, with fantastic views, the virtually car-free resort of Murren can only be reached by cable car. This authentic resort is unpretentious and easy going with cosy stüblis, bars and cafes. Mürren has an excellent snow record, thanks to its high altitude, and suits every level of skier with the advantage of the Schilthorn run which descends over 1300 vertical metres.
The area lift pass also allows you to explore the other resorts in the Jungfrau region. It is also famous for the 'Inferno' ski race which is the world's longest public downhill race. The race, which runs between 21-24th January attracts up t0 1,800 participants for the dash from Schilthorn to Lauterbrunnen. There are several venues offering music with the Tächi Bar and the Inferno the most popular, or there is a disco at the Bliemli Challer. If you want to meet the locals then go for a drink at the Stäger Stüblii, which we also recommend for a fondue.
On arrival all guests are presented with a guest card which allows you to visit the Alpine Sports Museum and use the swimming pool, whirlpool and ice rink at the sports centre free of charge.
