Murren
Perched high on the edge of the Lauterbrunnen valley, with fantastic views, the virtually car-free resort of Mu¨rren can only be reached by train and cable car. This authentic resort is unpretentious and easy going with cosy stu¨blis, bars and cafés. Mu¨rren has an excellent snow record, thanks to its high altitude, and suits every level of skier with the advantage of the Schilthorn run which descends over 1300 vertical metres.
The area lift pass also allows you to explore the other resorts in the Jungfrau region. It is also famous for the ‘Inferno’ Ski Race which is the world’s longest public downhill race. The race, which runs between 18-21 January, attracts up to 1,800 participants for the dash from the Schilthorn to Lauterbrunnen.
Murren is ideal for families with nursery slopes in the heart of the village and great sledging runs. It is also well-suited to non-skiers with an excellent network of winter walking trails and a wide range of mountain restaurants accessible without skis, including the famous James Bond revolving restaurant at the top of the Schilthorn. All guests are presented with a guest card which allows you to visit the Alpine Sports museum and use the swimming pool, whirlpool and ice rink at the sports centre free of charge. All in close proximity.
