Bernese Oberland
The second largest of Switzerland's cantons, the 6050 sq km area is more than two-thirds mountainous with the great rocky spine of the Bernese massif traversing the area from the Wildhorn range in the west to the Sustenhorn on the border with Central Switzerland. The southern flanks of these great mountains form part of the neighbouring canton of Valais, but the magnificent peaks of the Jungfrau, Eiger, Monch and Finsteraarhorn are all part of the Bernese Oberland.
