Davos
Davos is a town in its own right with 13 000 inhabitants. As a result you will find a full range of facilities for both locals and tourists alike. The 'Promenade' is the main road which links Davos Platz and Dorf. It is lined with attractive shops and boutiques and is served by the local ski bus network, which is free of charge for guests. After dark there are number of lively bars and nightspots including the Pöstli and the Tonic Piano Bar. The younger set may prefer the Ex bar, Chämi bar, Cabanna Club or the Rotliechtli. The Davos/Klosters guest card allows free travel on local buses and trains.
The Ski Area
The five areas of Davos and Kloters are easily accessible by ski bus or train and form a paradise for all levels of skiers. There are extensive beginners areas at Bolgen in Davos Platz and at Bünda in Davos Dorf.
The funicular from Davos Dorf takes you up to the huge areas of Parsenn Davos and Klosters. Experienced skiers will want to try the interesting black runs from the Weissfluhgipfel, at 2844m. The long run from the Weissfluhjoch down to Klosters is a must, stopping at one of the traditional Schwendi restaurants on the way. The Jakobshorn, known as the 'fun mountain', features modern chairlifts and offers wonderful wide runs above the tree line. This area is a favourite with young skiers and boarders due to the lively music bars. Pischa is known as the 'sunny mountain' and is only 10 minutes by bus from Davos. It offers superb south facing slopes, ideal for families. The Rinerhorn is reached by bus or train and is another interesting and quieter alternative with a variety of pistes for all abilities.
