Graubünden
The largest of Switzerland's cantons, covering about a sixth of the country's landmass, the Graubünden is the only one where three languages - German, Italian, and Romansch - are spoken. It comprises remote farms and villages and numerous popular resorts such as glitzy St. Moritz, the royal favourite Davos-Klosters and Flims Laax. It is also the most sparsely populated, with about 24 inhabitants per square kilometre, compared to the Swiss average of 150. Almost exclusively Alpine in character, the canton is the only one in the country that completely straddles the Alps.
