Saas Fee
Saas Fee enjoys a dramatic setting surrounded by the highest peaks in Switzerland. It has the advantage of being virtually car-free but it can still be reached by road. Car parking is available at the entrance to the village and guests are brought to the hotel by electric cars. This charming and picturesque resort features many narrow streets and chalet-style buildings. You could be forgiven for thinking that this is a sleepy resort, however the compact centre bustles with life during the twilight hours.
Saas Fee features three different ski areas offering over 100km of high altitude pistes. The glacier ski area, which culminates in the world's highest revolving restaurant, the Allalin at 3500m, ensures that skiing will be possible throughout the winter and beyond. Skiing is almost exclusively above the tree line with snow virtually guaranteed even lower down well into April.
Permanent snow cannons on the lower slopes enable skiers to return to the village. Beginners are well served by extensive nursery slopes on the edge of the village. Early intermediates will find lots of wide cruising runs to gain confidence whilst advanced skiers will enjoy the challenging, steep runs beneath the Felskinn. Intermediates and advanced skiers may choose to purchase the Saas valley lift pass which covers the whole of the Saas valley including the excellent red runs at Saas Grund, which receive more sunshine than the other slopes in the valley. In addition to the pistes, two halfpipes above the Morebia make Saas Fee a popular choice for snowboarders.
